Which principle is used for the conversion of data to the voice form?

The VoiceDesk memory stores recordings used to make up the needed voice messages. The recordings are addressed by their numbers. Therefore, converting data to a voice message is a matter of delivering the appropriate sequence of recording numbers to VoiceDesk, which will ensure their playback.
The delivery of correct recording number sequences is ensured by the application whose voice output (distribution channel) VoiceDesk implements.

What is the storage capacity of the device?

VoiceDesk can be delivered with a memory capacity from 16 MB (approx. 15 min of recordings) to 512 MB (approx. 9 hrs of recordings). The capacity of 512 MB is sufficient for the operation of large IVR systems in several language simultaneously.

How is the device connected to a computer?

VoiceDesk is connected to a computer through a serial port (RS 232 C).

How many phone lines can VoiceDesk serve?

VoiceDesk can serve 1 to 12 phone lines. If more lines are needed, it is possible to use several VoiceDesks at the same time. For instance, when using one computer fitted with a multiport card with 8 ports, it is possible to ensure the operation of 8 VoiceDesks, i.e. 96 lines at a time.

If there are several VoiceDesks connected to a computer, isn't the computer overloaded?

The computer only delivers to VoiceDesk the numbers of recordings to be played. VoiceDesk ensures the search for the recording and its playback on its own. This minimizes the load of the computer; generally, even if a relatively high number of lines (VoiceDesks) is used, they do not present great demands upon the computer's capacity. Usually, VoiceDesks connected to a single computer serve tens of lines.

Is it also possible to operate VoiceDesk in an autonomous mode?

Yes, VoiceDesk can be used independently, without a computer. The application is then implemented as a script stored on a memory card.

Which applications is VoiceDesk suitable for?

Because VoiceDesk can be used in a computer-controlled mode as well as autonomous mode, thanks to the possibility to use several VoiceDesk modules simultaneously and to choose the memory capacity, VoiceDesk can be used in virtually any IVR system, including very large systems and Call Centers.

How is a possibility to configure the device functions ensured?

The VoiceDesk module firmware allows configuring all parameters to ensure its cooperation with any branch exchange.
A VoiceDesk module delivery includes software that can be used to store and delete recordings, allows configuring the operational parameteres, and offers control and other functions.

What is the protection against intrusion to a local network through VoiceDesk?

VoiceDesk only accepts tone dialing (DTMF codes) and does not support any communication protocol that could allow using VoiceDesk to intrude the computer to which it is connected. Technically, intrusion to the local network through VoiceDesk is thus impossible.

What format of recordings can be used?

VoiceDesk allows using recordings in a sampling frequency corresponding to the possibilities of phone lines. It is possible to use recordings with a sampling frequency of 7200 to 11025 Hz (12-bit PCM), the frequency of 8000 Hz is usually used.

What is the quality of sound VoiceDesk can reach?

The accuracy and linearity of the D/A conversion are better then ± 0.5 lsb (0.012 %).
